Do I need a referral?

A medical referral is not required to see a Physiotherapist, Massage Therapist, or attend Pilates – unless you are claiming the injury through a third party provider (such as WorkCover, Veterans Affairs, or an insurance company).

Does private health insurance cover my treatment?

This will depend on your policy. Most policies with ancillary or extras cover will provide a rebate for physiotherapy, clinical pilates and remedial massage. At the Physio Fit Studio we will process your health claim immediately using HICAPS.

Does Medicare cover my treatment?

Medicare does not generally cover physiotherapy. However the recently introduced Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) scheme now permits doctors to approve up to five allied health services per year on referral. Usually, this service is only available to people with chronic conditions. Please discuss this option with either your physiotherapist or treating doctor. Please note, Physio Fit does not Bulk Bill. You will be required to pay us in full and we will immediately claim the money back for you from Medicare. The out of pocket expense is approximately $20-35 per visit.

Does Physio Fit treat Workcover and third party patients?

Yes we do. Workcover and other insurance companies may only partially cover the cost of services at this clinic, however. All Workcover patients are required to have a referral and CLAIM NUMBER from their treating doctor and are responsible for the balance of payment should there be one.

What are the terms for payment and cancellation?

Payment in full is required at the time of consultation. Please note, we are a cashless office payment by EFTPOS, visa and mastercard is accepted.

If you need to cancel your appointment we request that you provide at least 12 hours notice.  Late cancellations will be invoiced a $50 late cancellation fee.

How long does an appointment take?

Initial physiotherapy consultations are 45 minutes. Follow up standard consultations are 30 minutes. We do offer longer sessions if needed.

Massage appointments can be made at a length of your choice. You can choose 30, 60 or 90-minute appointment slots.

Your therapist can guide you best when booking a follow up consult. For your initial massage it is best to start with an hour!

What should I wear?

Please ensure you are wearing comfortable clothing that you can move in for your session.  Short skirts or tight clothing can restrict movement and are best avoided.

For massage appointments, please ensure that you are wearing suitable underwear – you will be required to remove clothing for your treatment.  Please note that we do use oils during our massages, so ensure you wear something suitable.

Must I attend an Initial Pilates Assessment?

We have lots of people ask whether they can skip the Pilates assessment. The answer is “no”!

It is a legal requirement that we see clients in a one on one setting before we provide group training. Furthermore, we have found it to be of such benefit to our clients and their progress that we are not willing to budge on that process. Trust us, it is in YOUR favour. You will do so much better because of it!

How long does an appointment take?

Initial pilates consultations are 1 hour.

Subsequent private pilates sessions can be booked at either 30 or 45 min.

What should I wear?

Pilates classes can be done in anything that you can move in comfortably. Anything you would go walking in will do. We do Pilates barefoot or with non-slip socks. Please do not use normal socks as they are a safety hazard.

How do I book for group pilates sessions?

After we have assessed you at your Initial Pilates Assessment we will recommend the appropriate group classes for you to attend, as well as how often you should come.  We will set up your initial class bookings for you.  After that you will have the choice to manage your own bookings online if you wish.

Cancellation Policy

If you cancel with less than 12 hours notice you will be invoiced for full cost of your group session. If you have pre-purchased e.g. 10 classes, one class will be deducted from your package. This also applies to failures to attend.
