Our Laser Treatment facilitates the healing processes of many conditions, helping to decrease pain, inflammation, and swelling. This treatment is pain free and administered by the therapist during either a Physiotherapy or Remedial Massage session.

Many of our clients get amazing results with both acute and chronic conditions. Some of our clients had tried everything else with no success – and have found that Laser Therapy has relieved their problems after just a few sessions.

What is Laser treatment and how does it work?

The Laser machine will be set according to your condition and presentation. Laser treatment takes about 2-20 minutes, depending on the area that needs to be covered during treatment.

Low intensity Laser therapy stimulates healing at a cellular level.

Laser helps the body heal in many ways:

  • Laser light triggers the development and growth of collagen tissue; this form of tissue is required for healing of wounds, ulcers, eczema, infections, tendons, discs, muscles etc.
  • Laser light increases circulation in cells. Blood flow is necessary for healing in any type of tissue.
  • Laser light helps activate the immune system.
  • Laser light can be used for “Laser-Acupuncture”- The laser harmlessly and painlessly transfers light into the energy channels of your body (meridians) and stimulates healing.

How does the Laser work and heal?

  • Laser light triggers the development and growth of collagen tissue; this form of tissue is required for healing of wounds, ulcers, eczema, infections, tendons, discs, muscles etc.
  • Laser light can trigger and accelerate the repair and growth of healthy new cells.
Research has shown that this includes those cells that make up cartilage, bone and connective tissue.
  • Laser can increase the flow of oxygen into cells. This improves blood circulation, new blood vessels growth and brings more nutrients to tissues. Oxygen and nutrients in cells are both important for healing.
  • Laser light increases the anti-inflammatory cytokines (cell growth) and also enhances the number of macrophages (garbage collectors) which remove foreign invaders and damaged cells.
This is how Laser can normalise tissues, decrease inflammation, swelling and pain.
  • Laser uniquely affects damaged cells the most. Cells that have low energy, low circulation or are multiplying (healing) are more sensitive to low intensity Laser than well functioning cells. This phenomenon allows Laser to have its greatest effect where it is needed most.
  • Laser light stimulates DNA synthesis in cells.
  • Laser light also stimulates the release of serotonin, acetylcholine and endorphins. These brain chemicals help with pain reduction, relaxation and learning.

Laser can be used to treat the following issues successfully:

  • wounds, scar tissue, ulcers
  • tendon tears or inflammation (tendonitis)
  • headaches and migraines
  • rotator cuff issues
  • bursitis
  • muscle tears
  • achilles tendonitis, plantar fasciitis
  • osteoarthritis (it triggers cartilage re-growth and increases the cartilage producing cells- a potent “double-whammy”)
  • rheumatoid arthritis
  • disc herniation
  • sciatica
  • fibromyalgia
  • sports injuries
  • RSIs
  • traumatic brain injuries
  • stroke
  • dementia
  • nerve damage (peripheral, central and cranial nerves alike)
  • sinusitis
  • tinnitus
  • artery blockages
